    Description

Beautiful NOS Unused Original U.S. Army Calvary dress or parade helmet with bright yellow horse hair plume atop. Looks NOS Unused to me. Black correct helmet just about in mint condition or near mint unused condition. No visible damage, no moth bites, no cracks to shell. Has the correct black leather strap around outside base of helmet with no chips to strap almost like new condition. Each side has the correct Brass Buttons with Crossed Cavalry and Swords, black leather edge or covering around brim with zero cracks, no chips, no separation. Correct brass original eagle front plate with crossed swords. Correct bright yellow gold horse hair plume. Correct brass original decorated cap on top holding plume down. Below that is the brass eagle and shield shaft atop a ball housing. Some age patina on bottom of shaft (small discoloration from age). Fancy oak cluster cap top on helmet; correct. Inside is full 1 3/4” high leather sweatband, unused, all there; only maroon size label at back fell off and missing; no big deal to display. Looks like about a size 7 or so helmet. On inside of the sweatband is stamped in black “QMD Phila. (Philadelphia) A.C. Gilson (Inspector). Then lightly stamped in red: “Horstmann” which was a famous well-established US Approved Military Dealer. If you think that this is a reproduction or modern, please do not bid, or even email, or try to wrangle a huge discount. I have collected and sold military items in antiques for over 50 years and know the difference. See all photographs and details as there are no returns. Great Original Cavalry Helmet at a reasonable price.
